:: Title of the Position: Patent clerk

:: Wage: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

:: Term of Employment: Contract, Part-time (10-20 hours per week)


:: Duties

  • Preparing and filing patent and industrial design applications, including electronic submissions, with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO)

  • Preparing and filing patent applications, including electronic submissions, with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO)

  • Managing patent and industrial design deadlines, maintaining dockets and priorities

  • Corresponding with clients, examiners, and foreign associates

  • Managing files, docketing time entries, and preparing bills

  • Completing various legal administrative duties as assigned


:: Requirements

  • Language(s): English

  • Education: Legal administrative assistant diploma, or equivalent is an asset, but not required.

  • Administrative assistant experience, including in the field of patent and industrial design prosecution, is an asset, but not required. *Post-hire training will be provided.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat or Nuance Power PDF

  • Experience with FreshBooks and AppColl would be an asset.

  • Self-discipline to work efficiently in a remote situation

  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
