Junior Floral Designer (NOC 53124)

Springhill Flowers is seeking 2 Junior Floral Designers to join our team on a full-time basis with a salary range $16.50 - $19.00 per hour based on experience.

Job Summary
  • This is a dynamic and specialized position in a fast-paced, social, and creative floral design environment.

  • The participant will need to be well rounded, with extensive knowledge of botanicals and florals, the cutting, curing and conditioning required for floral and greenery products, the ability to independently design and price arrangements that match Springhills’ brand and signature designs, as well as having experience with current wedding designs and setups.

  • This candidate is also required to have not only great customer service skills but also operational skills to successfully take orders, create arrangements, package products, and manage deliveries.

  • As a small business, this position involves many functions but also provides continued education about the art of floral design.

  • This job posting is for 30-35 hours per week.

Job Requirements and Duties
  • Design bouquets and hand-ties, small arrangements in containers and vases, and wedding corsages and boutonnieres, in an efficient and neat manner.

  • Complete customer orders from start to finish including taking orders via phone, email, or in-person, using our Point of Sale System, creating floral arrangement (depending on order requirements), packaging the order, and managing the delivery status.

  • Prepare social media content showcasing completed floral designs in different styles.

  • Help customers identify floral and botanical varieties needed for designs.

  • Have special event experience with weddings, corporate events, or ceremonies. This includes timely and neat set ups and efficient communication with industry vendors for the successful completion of an event from start until finish.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers and floral suppliers in a team environment.

  • Manage store inventory of floral supplies as they are being used in day-to-day duties and coordinate with the team to keep optimal stock.

  • Be available to work weekends, as needed, for special events and holidays throughout the year.

  • Stand on your feet for long periods of time and lift at least 40 lbs. safely.

  • Clean a wide range of items, including emptying a floral cooler, cleaning it, and refilling it with fresh product in cleaned vessels with appropriate markup pricing.

  • Report to the Owner and Lead Designer, Mary, and then to Floral Manager, Elise. They will need to work with Senior Floral Designers, other Junior Designers and Floral Assistants, in a team environment.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma (required), College Diploma (preferred)

  • Comprehensive English Language proficiency.

  • Experience and proficiency with cash registers and POS software is an asset.

  • Prior experience of at least 1 - 2 years in a professional floral business.

  • Ability to fulfill the physical demands of being on your feet, moving, cleaning, designing, and lifting heavy objects (40 lbs.), such as buckets of water and event designs, etc.

  • A hardworking and determined attitude and is eager to complete the daily demands of this position.

  • Able to create complimentary colour palettes and floral combinations that follow our creative brand standards.

  • A portfolio of work, professional and creative social media is preferred.

  • A flexible schedule of availability that allows for weekday or weekend shifts as needed based on season, holidays, and event bookings.
